The podcast: Episode II – Chilean extreme metal

We’ve spent the last two weeks listening to nothing but Chilean extreme metal in an effort to understand its gestalt. Here we present our findings, along with some random thoughts on what it says about the state of extreme metal from the genre’s traditional heartlands in Europe and North America.

    1. I guess we focused more on full-lengths than anything else, the EP you mention is a very short piece of music, interesting indeed, but somewhat more of an intermediate offering on the way towards a future full album.

      Insurrexión’s debut was quite ok and had a spirit of its own, if my memory serves well, but it was by no means on par with the records discussed on this episode.

      1. Agreed, the debut full length wasn’t nearly as strong as the EP was. I was actually disappointed by the album after seeing them live, and then was re-heartened when the EP came out and better reflected the music of their live set.
