Hate Meditations 
Good episode, Shelley. It reinforced my view that our evaluation of these albums are, in part, governed by our early experience with the genre and, more specifically, those albums that initially cast our expectations of how metal should sound. For example, Alters of Madness was greatly formative for me and (rightly or wrongly) the record against which I would judge the rest of MA’s discography. BATS sounds comparatively clinical (as someone pointed out), and the instrumental interludes are (again, for me) too corny to ignore on an otherwise great album. It was great to hear a competing assessment, though.
Highly recommend that Jason continue to drink before the recording of the podcast.
